Morgan's Place - Multi-Sensory Wonderland
Morgan’s Place is a fun place for children with special needs to come and stimulate their senses in an environment that is uniquely created just for them. This very special place can be reserved on an individual basis or for small groups including school field trips.
Snoezelen is a combination of two Dutch verbs: snuffelen (to seek out, sniff, or explore) and doezelen (to relax). Its concept was defined in the late 1970s by two Dutch therapists. While working at an institute in Holland, the two therapists learned of the positive responses a colleague elicited from a severely challenged client while exposed to a sensory environment he had assembled.
Our Sensorium is a wonderful environment, filled with sights, sounds, textures, and aromas and used to stimulate, calm, relax, or energize. The blend of sights, sounds, textures, aromas, and motion provide stimulation of the primary sensory systems . This controlled environment has been designed within one room of our facility; the experience can be staged to provide a multi-sensory exposure or single-sensory focus by simple adaptation to one stimulus.
Our Sensorium is designed to offer individuals with special needs and challenging conditions the opportunity to exercise choice through action. Reports on Snoezelen environments document accounts of users who have stopped self-abusive behavior; of people who have “seen” (become aware of the physical environment), spoken, or smiled for the first time in years; and of those who have showed unusual (for them) peace, happiness, and contentment.
Our room can be used individually or for small groups for whom a similar outcome is desired. It can be used therapeutically or as a leisure activity. Snoezelen has no formal focus on therapeutic outcome. The focus is instead on assisting users to gain maximum pleasure from the activity.
In addition, a Snoezelen MSE often affords an opportunity for the participant and care-giver to improve communication, enhance their understanding of each other, and build trust in their relationship.
Our room is currently being offered on an advanced reservation basis ONLY. Please contact us for availability, pricing, and to reserve your time in this wonderful, one-of-a-kind, climate controlled, indoor wonderland! Also available at Morgan’s Place is a private therapy room that can be reserved for a small hourly fee for individual sessions with your own therapists, tutors, support group meetings or exercise groups.
Our Technology Zone has been expanded as well, and offers plenty of room for adapted multi-player Wii-play and our new Augmentative Communication Center with iPads and switch activated toys! We are also creating a Soft-Play Zone, for our special-needs children that are mobile and need a place that allows them to explore at their own ‘speed’. This area will focus on vestibular activities and creative expression.
We have begun creating our outdoor Sensorium – with sand & water play, sensory garden, interactive stations and more! Additionally our new facility can now accommodate field trips and group sessions with a HUGE parking lot and a small eat-in area so you can bring your lunch with you!

Interested in Volunteering at Morgan’s Place?
We have a need for volunteer staff to help us man our center. Please contact us if you are interested in signing up for a shift for open volunteer opportunities. We will be happy to provide documentation of your hours for community service learning hour requirements.
The M.O.R.G.A.N. Project is proud to be an all-volunteer organization, and has been for over 13 years thanks to the wonderful members of our community that are dedicated to our cause! Over the past decade we have been extremely pleased to have provided our Quality-of-Life support programs to families with medically fragile children with various disabilities with absolutely NO charge to the families! Due to increased overhead costs associated with our new and improved facility, there will be a nominal fee for services provided at Morgan’s Place beginning in 2013.
Facilitator Training Session – now available!
Mandatory 2-hour training for volunteers that would like to work with families in our Sensorium.
